Here is a RECARO seat on board of an AIRBUS 350.
Two Carbon fiber plates are inserted between the seat frame and the seat cushion. The upper one slides on rails linked hinges. The other one rotates hinges fitted on the lower Carbon plate which is strongly Velcro glued to the seat frame. This allows the sitting cushion to move forwards and downwards on its frontal side.
The vertical cushion motion is synchronised. Supplied with engineering works and related FORM 1, it is a "Minor Change"
A spring system maintains unoccupied seats sitting mode. Those springs tend going to sleep mode and assists the return to sitting mode.
In sleep mode both cushions and textile link offers passenger body a lowered “chaise longue” flat surface with 45+ ° angle to sleep.
LSEAT retrofit kit adapts also to premium economy seats.
Longer and extra-long transcontinental or trans-ocean flights involve night segments and jet lag. Remaining seated that long can be a torture.
After a decent sleep, arriving fit and in good shape after, passengers can start their leisure on professional journey immediately instead of searching a bed to rest. Sleep comfort is more important than IFE.
Transit from one mode to the other is progressive and passenger can hold it at any level. Sleep mode does not interfere neighbours.
